bonjour d'eymet....

Bonjour mes belles,

I finished my chair yesterday but have yet to take a photo but will try and take one later today.

For my next lesson, I  have a fabulous antique chair which needs a lot of work so am sure that I will learn a lot more about reupholstery in the process.....

Most of yesterday afternoon and evening was spent sourcing stock for the shop and today French Boyfriend is out delivering furniture to their new homes.

It is the magic hour here in France, so I am off to grab a bite to eat before deciding what to tackle next....

à demain, Leeann x

April Showers...

Bonjour mes belles,

I hope that you had a good weekend. Ours passed at a rate of knots and I cannot believe that it is already lundi.

I have spent the morning dodging showers and I am most grateful for the covered arches on the village square as it is here that you will find me in between showers....

The roses on the square appear to be thriving and no doubt are thirsty hence love this weather....

It is not the best weather for walking as I have found out as it is sunny when I leave the house and 5 minutes later rain seems to appear from nowhere.

I have started work on recovering the matching chair to the one that I completed last week and hope to have this finished midweek.

Next Monday I have another reupholstery class so need to decide what I am going to recover next....what fun!

Bonne et douce semaine à vous tous , Leeann x

a touch of green...

Isn't it amazing what a difference a touch of fresh greenery makes?

These doors are pretty in their own right but the grape vine with its lovely fresh leaves, makes them charmant....

a beautiful day....a few photos

Bonsoir,

It was a beautiful day here in SW France and I thought that I would take a few photos whilst waiting for my hot cross buns to rise.

French Boyfriend has really taken to them like a duck to water so I have had to make more....

Latest batch of hot cross buns, the crosses are not quite as thick.....

I  popped down an alley way and this is what I found.....

lots of beautiful blossom......

wisteria complete with a random poppy growing on the wall....

this is a photo of our friend's house which is a couple of doors down from our house, in the same street as ours....

roses growing by the wall of the old convent across the road from us....

You can just see the top of our friend's house in this photo...

Just around the corner, are these beautiful climbing roses, love the contrast of the roses against the 14 century wall...

Back to making my Easter shopping list I go.....

love old postcards....

Bonjour from a sunny SW France,

We were hunting through lots of old postcards yesterday when we came across these antique cards relating to Eymet, the village that we live in and that French Boyfriend was born in.

We no longer have a railway station in Eymet, this building is now the Notaire's offices.

This is the village square which has not changed in over 100 years apart from the trees that no longer exist as it is now parking. I prefer it with the trees....

Love the card pictured above which features the words "a thought from Eymet"......

I am particularly fond of postcards that feature people as I think that it makes them more interesting and funnily enough old postcards with people in them, often have a higher value than those without.

Unfortunately I did not find any of my house, which used to be an old hotel, but will keep looking.

postcard from Eymet...

Bonjour mes belles,

I could not resist sharing this photo with you as the sky and the shutters are almost the same colour....note it was lovely and sunny when I took this photo on Monday.

What a difference a couple of days make as there is no sign of blue sky today. Fingers crossed that it returns soon...

à plus tard, Leeann x

très bonne semaine à tous...

Bonjour mes belles,

It is clear sky here in Eymet and the forecast is for sunshine.....much nicer than rain.

Where ever you are, what ever you are doing,

très bonne semaine à tous, Leeann x

our neighbour's garden...

Bonjour mes belles,

Another busy morning which included a quick dash to the Post Office before they closed the doors for lunch; a French tradition that has taken me a while to get used to, but after 6 years of living in France I now consider this "normal".

Our neighbour's garden is looking fabulous and I thought that I would snap a few photos to share with you....

Love the contrast of the lovely lush green foliage against the old stone wall.....

So lucky to have such a lovely garden so close to us, it is by far the nicest and probably the most photographed garden, in our village.

Back to writing last minute Christmas cards I must go......

coming to Eymet May 2014....

Bonjour mes belles,

I hope that you are having a good weekend. I am popping a few dates in the diary and this is one worth sharing for anyone planning a trip to Eymet next May.

His name is Mathieu Borè and he is a fabulous jazz singer and he is coming to Eymet as part of the Maquiz'Art Winter Jazz Programme, a big merci to French Boyfriend's cousins who put so much work into organizing these fabulous concerts which really do brighten up a chilly Winter's night and fortunately the venue is only a hop, skip and jump from maison no.20.

You can listen to him here.

très bon week-end à tous, Leeann x

Shabby Chic French Style...

Bonsoir mes belles,

I hope that you are having or had, a fabulous day.

Ours was spent sorting through boxes in a garage that we need to clear and it took a lot longer than I thought that it would.

Hence this post is a lot later than I would have liked but I wanted to share this photo with you. It is a photo of an old advertising panel painted on a wall of a building in our village which has been preserved and I think, looks fabulous. So much nicer than looking at a plain wall and at the same time reminds of what this buildings purpose used to be. In a previous life it was a place where conserves were made, a bit different to it's use today.....fabulous loft style apartments....if only the walls could talk, they would surely have a tale or two, to tell.

à demain, Leeann x

très bon week-end à tous....

Bonjour from a festive SW France,

It is that time of the year with the holiday season in full swing and the biggest decision required  is where to go and what to do......so many thngs  to choose from.

The medieval festival is taking place in Eymet today and tomorrow. It finishes with a fabulous medieval banquet in the square with entertainment including a fire show.....

très bon week-end à tous, Leeann x

post card from Eymet...

Bonjour mes amies,

Not only are we lucky enough to be surrounded by vineyards, which are only a few minutes drive from the village but we also have a few growing in the village itself.

I could not resist taking a photo of this one, basking in the sunshine.....

je vous souhaite une très bonne journée, Leeann x

adorable...

Bonsoir mes belles,

It has been a fabulous day here with lots of lovely sunshine.

We went for a walk late this afternoon and look what we found, three lovely new baby swans or as they are called in French cygnets.

They are adorable and I cannot believe how close that we got to them without their mother biting us.

Isn't Mother Nature the best thing in life, she never ceases to surprise me.....

amicalement, Leeann x

une belle journée....

Bonjour mes belles,

I am supposed to be working inside today but could not resist the temptation to take a quick walk in the lovely sunshine, it is like a spring day here most unusual for February...

When I saw this bicycle paking outside the hairdressers, I though perfect it as though it was placed there and waiting for me to take the photo.

As you know I am a lover of this vin rouge colour; my shutters and front door are painted in the same colour so I was happy when the new owners of this hair salon painted their  facade the same colour.

For me it is a colour that always looks bright whether it is sunny or not but it really comes into it's own when the sun shines......don't we all, for that matter.

à demain, Leeann x

so pretty....

I could not resist sharing this photo of the village in which we live;Eymet, with you.

This morning it will not be as calm looking as it is market day so the village square will be full of market stands and hopefully lots of customers. It is going to be warm today; 21 degrees which is not bad for November.

à la prochaine,Leeann x

cafe ou glace?

We are lucky enough in Eymet to have the lovely Julian, who serves the best coffee along with yummy Italian icecream all a hop, skip and a jump from Maison No.20.

What did we do before you started this fabulous business Julian?

I think that his wonderfully restored camionette is now one of the most photographed objects in Eymet......

So now you all know where to come if you want great cafe and  yummy icecream, note French boyfriend likes his icecream with hot coffee poured on top.....think this is a Frenchy thing!

à demain mes belles, Leeann x
