my current obsession...

.....is the bathroom in the new project that we are about to commence shortly.

 

 

We spent the whole of Saturday looking at a variety of floor tiles, shower trays etc. along with what seemed like half of France.

 

French Boyfriend and I joined the queue and waited paitiently for the next available assistant in the bathroom shop.

 

Finally our turn arrived and we were informed that our choice was not available due to the fact that the Italian factory that made the tiles had burnt down. Decided that it was not very polite to ask why they were still on display and asked if he had anything similar.

 

After looking at a few samples we decided on some imitation stone tiles and we placed the order and paid the deposit and advised that we would call Monday if we required additional.

 

Saturday night I happened to glance at the order and to my horror saw the word BEIGE.

 

Started to panic and had visions of a truck load of BEIGE tiles arriving outside my front door. Do not get me wrong, I have nothing against BEIGE but it goes not feature in the colour scheme for our new project.

 

 As soon as the shop opened this morning we placed a call to the salesman who amended the order and I can now rest easy. I wish that was true but now have to place the order for the shower tray, bathroom lighting, heated towel rail etc. so suspect that this obsession maybe around for a while.

 

Back to the bathroom catalogues I go.....

 p.s. I have the bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge just in case the process starts to get overwhelming and I need something to calm me down!



what comes first.....horse or cart?

Bonjour mes belles,

I started writing this post yesterday afternoon and never got around to finishing it.

It has been almost 4 years since I finished renovating Maison No.20 and I had forgotten how much time it took designing the layout of each of the rooms.

We are in the process of starting a new project and yesterday I found a fabulous basin for the bathroom, which is identical to one that you see above. It was a stroke of luck as we went into a local hardware store to buy some "no parking" signs for our garage and I thought while I was there I would have a quick look at their bathroom section. End result I bought the last basin that they had in stock so I am a happy girl as that is one less thing to worry about and French Boyfriend likes it.

The bath and the basin were the easy parts, the shower  is something that I am still working on hence it involves wading through catalogues and searching on pinterest for ideas of models that could work.

Which brings me to the title of today's post....what comes first....horse or cart?

In terms of the bathroom I decided that I would buy most items first and then get the plumber in. It is difficult as you need to have an idea as to what you are having but at the same time do not want to buy something that will be complicated to install.

Fortunately French Boyfriend is proving to be an asset on the technical side of things and I am sticking to the design with input from him and a few friends that have renovated some fabulous places.

I have decided that a slow and steady approach is required and I will tackle each part as I get to it.

I am now off to clear a space in the garage as the bath is being delivered this morning.....exciting times!

Obsessed.....

obsessed - having or showing excessive or compulsive concern with something....

 

I think that this word sums up my mood perfectly and I have spent the last few days obsessing over baths, at first I thought a bath built into an alcove was a good idea....

until I started to see photos of claw foot baths. What is it about claw foot baths that has us girls drooling?

In my last house the room that had the claw foot bath was the most requested and I have decided that our latest project "le nid d'amour" or  love nest in English, warrants the purchase of such a bath.

 

It is a vicious circle renovating as in order to get quotes from plumbers I need to know what is going where so I decided that I would start with a bath.

 

End result, I have ordered the bath and will design the rest of the bathroom around it......  so expect a few more bathroom posts. Not so sure that choosing a toilet will be as exciting.

I  am loving this gorgeous bathroom, which belongs to a house in Scotland, as it has so many of the objects that I adore.....lovely big bath, fabulous romantic looking wall light along with sweet florentine style chest of drawers.
Also love the glimpse of the louis style bed reflected in the oh so stunning mirror.
